Curtain wall issue

It’s very complicated to use curtain walls because the style editor crashes as soon as you adjust somewhat complex parameters (I’m trying to adjust a glass brick wall (20x20 grid with 1 mm joints)… it would be good to optimize this point because it makes VARQ difficult to use every day. I should point out that it crashes for me even with a blank file… Thanks

Hello, i have modeled the same glass brick wall using curtain wall style and had the editor crashing.

The workaround which worked in my case was to disable completely the preview in the style editor for this object style. Then i had only to deal with a slight freeze every time i insert this type in the model, or if forget and select this style in the editor without disabling preview first, that causes a longer freeze which eventually sorts itself out.

But i never managed to make style changes and adjustments with the preview on, this causes a complete freeze, that does not resolve itself and i have to force quit rhino.

Hope that helps.

Best,

alex

Hello, thank you very much for your feedback. I actually found this solution yesterday too. The editor’s viewer seems very cumbersome. I have the same type of problem with complex railings. Perhaps it would be possible to simplify the preview? Thanks.

Yes, it seems that the mini preview must be doing full on intersection and/or other calculations that make the editor freeze or even crash at some point.

Hopefully the developers are watching every post in this subforum and will take action.

@guillaume.dupas @ng5_Alex can you provide the model with these complex railings and curtain walls that make the program freeze or crash? I guess the objects are composed by components with small dimensions which results into complex objects, but I’d like to double check that, and report it to the development team. Thanks!

Hello,

The curtain wall is with fixed cell width-height of 25cm, frame and mullion of 1cm and the depth of every element is 8cm.

Thanks @ng5_Alex I think the generation of the mullion component with the size of that cell is what makes the curtain wall run slow. We will see if we can improve this performance. I’ll let you know.
