Hello, I am looking to understand how I can make a library of custom components, via a the custom profile grasshopper function and then save different length variations of the family to use in Rhino. Working towards a component schedule with name of family and length/quantity of each scheduled out.
Much apreciated if anyone has done this or knows where there is a good resource to learn this.
You can create custom profiles with the workflows I sent you via email: Is it possible to create beams with custom profiles? - VisualARQ. If you want to create it with Grasshopper, you can use the “Custom profile” and “Beam style” components to create a beam style and, if you want to create the beam object from Grasshopper as well, you can do it by using the “Beam” and “Beam options” components.
If you do it that way, you will be able to create a beam style with a custom profile, but you will not be able to define predefined lengths for the beam objects because there is not a property available for that. If you want to create a custom property to have predefined lengths and a custom profile, then you need to follow a different workflow: creating a beam Grasshopper style. You have information about how to create this kind of styles here: https://www.visualarq.com/learn/grasshopper-styles/beams/.
