Creating Closed Volumes

Need to fix open polysurfaces for 3d printing and other uses. These buildings come from online sources and most of the time the geometery is a bit messy. I have been trying to recreate the original geometery and then solid unioning it using grasshopper to automate variouse masses at once. im getting close but cant seem to figure out the bugs. Any ideas?

Shrinkwrap.

i have also tried this and got it to work almost succesfully, however shrinkwrap deforms the geometery too much. i was wondering if there was a way to do this keeping everything as polysrfaces

Most likely with high enough resolution you won’t see the artefacts in the print, unless you print in high resolution SLA…

I agree but sometimes working with meshes can be very messy and shrinkwrap doesnt always work well. Either ways for my purposes im trying to find a way to create closed polysurfaces:)

Good luck

But wait a minute. Actually the large object in your file ends up as closed brep when I deconstruct and join it.

The smaller object only has two naked edges. These can be fixed manually or even in Grasshopper.
