Create smooth cap to this shape in Grasshopper

Hi Guys,

Im trying to help someone create a smooth cap on the ends of this shape they have made.

I have tried a few different ways but all have given me slightly undesirable results. The cap needs to be clean and trimmed to the end curve of the structure as well as bulge out in a rounded shape.

I have made the below using the rail revolve component but as you can see it doesn’t fit snuggly on the blue shape. I also tried using half the rail on the bottom to see if that would work but the result was worse.

I have had similar results using sweep and loft but non of them have given me the clean result I’m after here.

Could anyone help please? I’m sure there is a simple answer to this but I’m struggling to get the results I’m after.

P.S they have made the original script using some AI plugin that is apparently available for grasshopper now so please don’t ask me about any of the script outside of the group inside the script because I have no idea haha

And it appears you are renaming standard GH components.

Sorry, yeah she had used the Lunchbox Plugin and one other to create the script. I believe the other one must be the AI plugin she told me about.

I have internalised the curves and removed all of her script so there are non of the pluggins left.

I assume the renaming of any components has come from her side of the script as i haven’t renamed anything or used any pluggins

Dear Jake,

I think you made it a bit more complicated then necessary.

The last curve + the nurbs curve you made are enough for a loft.

Hi Eef.

Thank you for this. I had tried this earlier but i was hoping for the shape to be a bit more rounded near the top. Which is what led me to the overly complex route I have gone down.

Do you have an idea on would you go about creating a rounder top to this?

Do you really need to do this in GH? Seems like you have decent result in Rhino.

I did think the same, but they seem to specifically want it in grasshopper.

I assume they just want the benefits of it being parametric and not remodelling the caps every time
