try testmarkup in v8… it’s a test command but lets you draw in a viewport.
very very early test command… don’t come for me with a pitchfork if it misbehaves.
save often and be ready for some potential instability.
Is this in active development? Planned vor version 9?
yes, active development, but lots of stuff can happen… I’m hoping it makes it to 9, but many miles before we sleep.
I just played a bit with it, very promising.
Some problems with strange projecting/snapping, though.
yep… lots of stuff to sort yet- thus the test command.
osnaps disabled is helpful to make it a bit more predictable.
Yeah that was the first thing I did, but even then.
But I am not complaining, as you made it clear this isn’t ready for prime time.
that said, please continue to point out stuff you see when using it, or even more importantly what you’d need in this tool should it make it to the show-
we are currently thinking for the basics:
-easy to manipulate cplane tool (world top/right/front) with a normal drag handle so you can flip the cplane around quickly then drag it to a specific location to draw on.
-color, opacity and thickness widget
the cool thing about these curves is so far, they appear to perform at sketch like speeds, BUT… they remain actual Rhino nurbs curves, meaning you could export as vectors, AND build 3d stuff from them.
what else do you want to see in this tool?
I think what would be really handy, would be a kind of ad hoc cplane that is determined by the view and can be moved in depth…so that you can manipulate the cplane with one click (and by changing the view)
so like one view with a normal drag handle?
I’m onestly not too familiar with one view.
Need to take a look…
