Constant crashing with external monitor but not laptop screen

Haven’t been able to find any help online with this specific issue.

I have a laptop with an external monitor connected. When I use Rhino on just the laptop everything runs fine. When I use it on my larger external monitor it crashes.

So far, anytime I try to open a New document on the external monitor or click 4-view it crashes. That’s the only things I’ve found so far but it’s a constant thing.

The laptop is using Intel UHD 630 graphics and the external monitor is using GeForce GTX 1060 plugged into a HDMI cable.

As soon as I click the command everything freezes and goes into Not Responding mode.

Both cards have the updated drivers, btw.

Update: FIXED

I have found a solution and fixed this issue. Apparently I just had to go to display settings and click on screen 2 and check the box for “Make this main display.”

I read a post somewhere that said Rhino only works properly on the main display so figured I’d give it a shot and it works now. Just in case anyone in the future has this same issue.

Update driver of the external monitor anyway.

Seeing that the GTX has already a driver from 2019 I don’t think that is really necessary.

Thank you for posting your fix… I have been having this problem with Rhino Fusion360 and Sketchup and this fixed my problem.

Haha! I’m suffering the same issue. I can’t wait to get into work tomorrow and test your fix. If you’re method is successful then I’ll be forever grateful. Not sure why McNeel Tech Support haven’t suggested this. Brb!

SUCCESS! I can’t believe this is the fix. Thanks, though…
