Consider scaling in importing

Why is it when a block in milimeters is inserted in a model in meters, as a reference or embedded, it is not automatically scaled to the local units?
Is there a setting to make that happen?

… I am desperately trying to avoid to go into my age old rant why do digital models have units at all… … … couldnt help it, sorry

Hi N- so far as I can see an inserted file is scaled - that is, it keeps its size , not its units, so to speak. A one meter box is 1000mm if inserterd to an mm file. You’d want the 1 meter box to be 1 mm?

No.
I inserted a model in mm of a building that is 60 meter, in a model in meters and it became 60000m long.

Hm - I cannot repeat that here - if I have a model open that is in meters and I insert a mm (3dm) file that has box that is 20 mm wide, it is .02 in the current file - that os what you’d exepect, right? Are you inserting Rhino files or some other format?

I am inserting a Rhino file. The objects in it are meshes exported from other program (REVIT I think).

Just to be precise the objects are blocks with meshes inside. The rhino file units is mm.

@nsgma are you sure that the program that has exported it, includes the units setting? Can you share a file that you try to import? If it is to big, you can send it here and link it back to this place, thanks.
