Hi Hans,
Right-click on the shortcut for the Rhino 8 beta, and at the end of the target add /netfx.

thanks for the hint. Startup now works, Orca doesn’t. Do you have any suggestion or is that an open topic?

My apologies; it just occurred to me that you are probably trying to use Orca3D Version 2 with Rhino 8, which is not supported (and will not be). Orca3D Version 3 is in the work-in-progress (WIP) stage, and it does support Rhino 8 (and 7).
In addition to updates/improvements to the existing V2 functionality, V3 includes a new optional module for tank and compartment definition, fluid and fixed loads, intact and damage stability with free surface effects, and stability criteria evaluation.
If you would like to try it, please go to the Orca3D website, and in the Download menu select the WIP. In addition to the installation file, you’ll also find an introductory video, installation instructions, sample model, etc.

Your WIP page needs a quick update then:
Work-in-Progress – Orca3D, LLC
Version 3 will not run in Rhino 6 or earlier. In the future it will run in Rhino 8, but currently it does not run in the Rhino 8 WIP.
