Command wish: Array hole along curve?

What does everyone think about a “Array hole along curve” command?

This would reduce clicks, time and change some workflow i find

Let’s hear some inputs don’t keep it civil just raw unfiltered. :microphone:

I demand Jetski, LacrosseStick, and AircraftSeat commands for V9.

Yeah but they are to fancy for us I’m not sure Bobs pockets go that deep

Especially the LacrosseStick

What about Array hole along curve would you have a need for something like that?

Orientation and profile curves options blam! done like automagic no need for splits and trims or work arounds

Save those limited mouse clicks and early finger arthritis

Hi @CADARTZ

I’ve often wished for this myself. I think this would be a great starting point for the implementation of constraints because this requested command could benefit from some form of simple constraints. I currently use GH for this type of work for either holes, screw heads or rivets but I would welcome a well thought out approach in vanilla Rhino.

I would like to see…

  1. History of the hole type and size and easy updating when swapped out.
  2. Constraints to specify hole spacing
  3. Depth of cut history, this should be updatable.
  4. Ability to have different depths for each hole.
  5. Ability to choose cut out patterns from a tabbed library (This could be another command or development where we could store cutouts and negative Boolean shapes/cutters in a library tab and have a streamlined version pop up as a menu when working)
  6. Interaction with user scripts for hole spacing, type and depth

I did the solidworks basic training manual about a year ago and really like the whole idea with constraint functions as it is a very enjoyable way of modeling I find and has its usefulness when making several iterations with changes

I also come from CNC so totally onboard that idea if possible
