Clipping plane crash

I seems to be getting a repeatable crash with just one sphere in the file, once a clip is drawn, it’s a spinning rainbow for a bit and then it crash
[crash report sent]
this never happened before the new UI… but I didn’t use a cliplan for some time so this may have been there for several WIP updates.

thanks a lot
Akash

Hi Akash -
Is this in OpenGL or Metal display mode?
Please attach your SystemInfo data.
-wim

I tested again this morning after updating the WIP to yesterday’s update.
Crash is same on Open GL
No crash [at least at this basic test] with Metal
Edit: TestMetal cause this old computer to constantly run the CPU on 20% even on an empty document and rhino WIP minimized…
thanks a lot
Akash

Hi Akash -

I’m not 100%, but I don’t think we’ll support running Rhino 8 on macOS 11.x; possibly not even on 12.x(?) with macOS Ventura on its way in.

I’m running macOS 12.5.1 on an old MacBookAir7,2 and am not crashing with this basic test in Metal and Wireframe.

I’s ok Wim thanks a lot
I’m on a 2013 MBP so no expectation for it to be supported… and I don’t think I can move to 12 on this machine.

I’ll be buying the next gen M2Max MBP when it comes out [soon I hope]
and will try to make do with this good old machine for now.

with thanks
Akash
