Bug: Inability to split surfaces by isocurve

I found that Rhino 9 WIP will not let me split a surface by its own isocurve when the “Global edge continuity” tool is active. Even if I click on the “Toggle analysis display” switch on the upper right corner to hide the analysis elements on the surfaces, it’s still impossible to split the surface by isocurve.

If I try to split the surface in the middle and the mouse pointer coincides with the dot marking of the “GEC” display (which is also at the middle of the edge), Rhino switches the curvature graph instead of splitting the edge.

There is also some unwanted delay or freezing when the mouse pointer is close to the dot marking and the Osnap is active, as well.

The edge dot of GEC takes precedence when clicking in the viewport. You can temporarily switch to “graphs-only” or toggle GEC (top-right) while doing the split.

Thanks for the tip. A bit weird that the analysis dot marking prevents the mouse clicking. Is it possible to fix this bug for the official release of Rhino 9? :slight_smile:

@Rhino_Bulgaria thanks for reporting.
RH-96213 Can’t use Osnap points behind analysis dots even when invisible

Thanks! I had a crash of the latest WIP today caused by the freezing while trying to split a surface near the middle. Not exactly on the analysis dot marking, but the mouse pointer was close enough to trigger a delay of a couple of seconds before the crash. I use Osnap on all the time, and that also affects the delay.

This should be fixed in next week’s WIP. In fact, you should then be able to split or extract isocurves, or anything else, even when the dots are visible.

Thank you! This sounds promising. I’m happy that these fixes are so quick!
