In the latest WIP (8.0.23052.12305), the gumball disappears when approached with the cursor. It’s still ‘there’ and functional as long as I can figure out where to put the cursor.
couldn’t reproduce your issue on Today’s Build. can you share system info?
you bet!

I have similar spec’d hardware and V-ray installed. I’m going to install Nvidia 526.98 and will see if I get the issue.
That didn’t reproduce the issue either, can you disable the plugins: Vray, Datasmith and the Intel and Nvidia denoisers?
I have V-Ray and Datasmith here and it seems working, also you can update your nvidia GPU to today’s release?
done, no change in behavior…

The gumball disappears when the view is static, and is regenerated when the view changes, as seen in this video while orbiting around the box with a spacenavigator.
What happens if you switch your main display to monitor #0?
Also, a new Nvidia Driver was released today, can you update it?
GeForce Game Ready Driver | 531.18 | Windows 10 64-bit, Windows 11 | NVIDIA
Monitor switching didn’t work. downloading the game driver right now.
Updating to the 531.18 Game driver didn’t seem to make a difference either.
Switching back to the 528.49 Studio Driver from 2/8/23. Problem persists with this one too.
and can you confirm this issue doesn’t happen with Rhino 7?
What’s up with your mouse / cursor?
Same thing! I thought that this issue might be related to mouse trailing setting on windows, and for the first time since 1999, I enabled mouse trailing.
Another thing that may likely cause this issue is probably the Idle State of the GPU when the viewport is static. Can you confirm this setting on Nvidia control Panel?
Rhino 7 works fine.
Ha! Mouse trails. I use a large 4k TV for a display and having the trails helps me track the mouse cursor a bit.
I adjusted the nVidia setting to “maximum performance” and no change.
I turned off mouse trails and no change.
For what its worth, the problem persists through a remote desktop session too.
Sorry to ask this, but just in case… You did restart Rhino after disabling the plugins, didn’t you?
Also, what happens with the gumball if you disable the 3dConnexion plugin and restart Rhino?
yep, many times.
