this is super weird… fails in 9 too, and fails no matter what I try..rebuild etc…
but, make two new cylinders from scratch and they blend just fine..
can you give some detail about these surfaces? what kind of voo doo is going on here?
@menno can you take a look at this?
i had 5 espresso and 2 pieces of chocolate, then:
i 've drawn a curve - Degree 3, 4 cvs, Circle around curve, pick the curve ends.
Rebuild to Degree 5 and 10 ? CVs
ExtrudeCrv
EDIT:
looks like it is repeatable with this geometry - at least on my side:
_circle → around curve
_rebuild CV count 10, Degree 5
_extrudeCrv with undefined visual and different lengths
_blendsrf - > fails
blendsrf_nosrf_makingOf.3dm (3.2 MB)
im curious if this is mac only, im afk on my pc at the moment, but it does fail on the mac I have here in both v8 and v9.
it does however work in v7.
I’ll get this written up.
RH-89796 bendsrf failing in v8 and v9, but works in v7
This is not mac- or win-specific. If you run _MakeNonPeriodic on both surfaces the blend can be made. I’m looking into what is causing this to fail for periodic surfaces.
This gets fixed in the v8 service release of November (8.25), and in next week’s v9 WIP.
Wow fast.
A bug fix within 16h / less then 24h.
Great.
Thanks
RH-89796 is fixed in Rhino 8 Service Release 30 Release Candidate
Could you please take 8.30-RC1 for a spin and see if BlendSrf now does what it’s supposed to do. I made a couple of changes and while we have of course tested this internally, I’d rather discover any glitches now than when 8.30 has gone out. If 8.30 were to go out with problems, the next opportunity to fix them is in 8.31.
