Boolean union and merge coplanar planes

Hi

My rhino has started merging coplaner planes when i do a boolean union. (I dont know why?)
However, I would like that it didnt do that since I often need those surfaces.

Any Idea as to how to keep it from merging?

Example of this. Before boolean union

After the boolean union - they way it does it now

previous it look like this in the boolean union

Thansk in advance!

Hi,

It looks like that change was made in 8.9 as a result of this issue. I opened a new issue here to add an option to not merge those faces.

Thanks! That would be a big help.

i personally really like that it merges it automatically thank you for that making my life easier  , i never needed a non merge version, but having an option is always better.

Hi,

I really appreciate your help with creating a version where I can keep coplanar surfaces without merging them. I often create geometry for CFD, and sometimes I place a door inside a wall, resulting in multiple coplanar surfaces that serve different functions in the CFD simulation.

Currently, when I need to perform more complex operations with many boolean functions on more intricate geometry, I work in Rhino 7 instead of Rhino 8.

This is a simple example of the type of geometry I’m referring to.

Thanks!!
