Bongo and Octane: Motion and Camera Blur?

Dear Bongo users,

I use Octane for rendering stills in Rhino. I need to produce some simple but high quality animations. The Octane renderer supports camera and motion blur. Would someone be able to let me know if Bongo:

1/ Works (well) with Octane
2/ Supports camera blur (ie the scene blurs when the camera moves)
3/ Motion blur for moving objects
4/ Animation files (.avi etc) as textures controlling material opacity.

Kind regards,

Paul

Paul,

The answer is that Octaine has to support the Motion Blur/animation features in Bongo in order for it to work and I’m not sure that it does. The only renderer I know of that does support M-blur in Bongo is Brazil.

You could ask this over at the Octaine forum.

Hi Paul

  1. Yes, Octane will render Bongo animations
  2. Yes, camera motion blur is supported (pls see https://vimeo.com/90721378)
  3. No, Object Motion Blur is not currently supported - but I hope to have it in the plugin in the next month.
  4. Animated textures are not currently supported - but should be possible when 3) is implemented.

Thanks

Paul

Hello Paul  ,

correct me If I am wrong, but I was under the impression that your video shows the native rhino animation tool and not bongo?

best

Andreas

Hi Andreas - there are now two videos - one show camera motion blur from a Rhino flythru/walkthru…

Camera Motion Blur in OctaneRender for Rhino

and another showing the new camera and vertex motion blur available from Bongo..

Exporting from Bongo to Octane Standalone

So to answer the original posters question, the latest TEST version of the plugin now support object motion blur (from Bongo animated objects),

Paul

Ahh OK -> I am already testing the latest build, I thought it would already be possible from within Rhino…

by the way : GREAT WORK!

Andreas
