Objects grouped inside a block instance during BlockEdit do not keep their grouping. Once you click OK to close the block editor and re-enter BlockEdit on the same instance, the grouped objects are ungrouped.
Steps to Reproduce:
Double-click a block instance to launch BlockEdit.
Select two or more objects inside the block and run Group.
Click OK to save and exit BlockEdit.
Double-click the same block instance to re-open BlockEdit.
Result: The objects lose their group property and become individual, ungrouped elements.
Is it possible to have group definitions persist within block definitions in the Rhino 9 Beta release?
@dimitri_jlantiashvil pls run _SystemInfo and post back the results. If you could send an example file with it, that would be useful.
I wasn’t able to reproduce it with these steps:
You likely weren’t able to reproduce it because this issue appears to already be fixed in the Rhino 9 Beta you are testing with. However, the bug is definitely still present and reproducible using those exact steps in the current Rhino 8 release.
Would you still like me to post my _SystemInfo and an example file from Rhino 8, or is the fact that it’s fixed in the Beta sufficient?
BlockEdit in the V9 Beta contains many fixes. This is one of them.
These fixes will not be ported to V8, unfortunately. These fixes, taken as a whole, required some significant code refactoring. So it’s not possible to separate this fix from all the other fixes that were made.
