Bamboo Gridshell structure - tensioning with cable/spring?

Hi,
I’m currently trying to simulate a deformed Bamboo Gridshell structure for an installation.
Like described in the picture I want to pull 6 connection points from the bamboo grid towards the pillars through a cable that will be tightened with x kN.
I tried to model it with either cables (with initial strain) or springs, but it didn’t work out as I want to. I don’t know what the best strategy would be, but I need to “shorten” the cable or spring by tightening it. In reallife we will probably use some kind of cable or rope.
(the installation will be “floating” and only held by the cables/springs/ropes)

I am an architecture student from Germany and hope that I could explain the problem clearly, thanks in advance for helping!

Hi, please refer to this example, where it shows how you can set up cables: Space Ball - Karamba3D

Hi,
thanks, I used the given example and figured out how to setup the cables (at least I think so) and the deformation kind of works - however the pointloads don’t seem to effect the calculation as much as gravity does.

In this vctf I used 20kN for the pointloads (intentionally exaggerated) and put the deformation at 1x, but the deformation seems to be way too small for me.
I also tried using wood or other materials instead of “my bamboo”.

Thanks for the support!

when I look at the the A load combinations I see that the cables themselves have compression. Therefore they are not working properly as cables and you need to set the initial strain to higher

Thanks a lot for the support!
