Hi everyone - I’m new to Rhino, going through tutorials for Rhino 8 for Mac. I’ve run into a problem with layout viewports. Not sure if this is a tech support issue or if I’m just missing something.
The background of the layout viewport is a rather dark gray color, and I would much rather layouts to have a paper white background because I occasionally use gray shadings, hatches, or lines to make complex drawings easier to read. This background doesn’t print. This is only an on-screen viewing issue.
In the drop-down menu attached to the viewport name, “Background Bitmap” shows the current background as “grayscale”. This was the default setting, not something I set up. This option and all the other options on the menu are grayed out except for the “place” option at the top of the list. So, I tried to create a plain white background image to replace the current one. I saved the image as a jpeg, tried to load it, and got an error message saying that the file is not recognized as a compatible file format. I tried a pdf file, and Rhino won’t even let me select it.
So, a few questions -
- What are the supported file types for a background image? Rhino lets me select a jpeg, it just won’t load it.
- Is there some easier way to do this? I can’t find anything in the file settings to change background colors.
- The only information I found on this forum about background bitmaps was related to older versions of the program. Is anyone having trouble with this feature in Rhino 8?
