Would like to be able use the text tool and create 3d text and as the last step attach it anywhere on an object. There is little bit about this the help for the tool but not enough to figure out. Would save the manual turning by hand.

2 point is nice because you can copy and/or scale the object
3 point allows you to precisely place the object
on surface - self explanatory

These are two methods that quickly come to mind for positioning the text (orient) on an object.
One way is to set the CPlane first, to where you want the textobject, then insert the text at 0 when asked for the insertion point.
