Arctic Mode - Latest Rhino 8 Update Broke It

Hi,

Found a couple of people with the same issue over on Reddit, not sure if anyone here is suffering from the same issue. My Rhino 8 recently updated to "Version 8 SR13
(8.13.24317.13001, 2024-11-12)
Commercial "

Ever since then, Arctic mode is now displaying colours instead of the White model. In the viewport settings it looks as though it should still be displaying a white model, but it now displays the colour of the layer/object.

Any one else having this issue? Any fixes to recommend?

Many Thanks,

Mitchell

email us a tech@mcneel.com and we’ll get you a pre release version of a newer service release that fixes this- sorry for the hassle-

Yes, its actually using the object colours as display (layer color or custom)
Surface edges and hatches are only using object colours too.

Discovered an interesting fix… Not sure why it works but it does.

So the issue is that Objects are displaying with their layer/object colour instead of the white usually found in arctic mode. If I open up a file in Rhino 7 and copy an object and paste it into the Rhino 8 file, suddenly everything reverts to Arctic White.

Hi -
I see that this was an issue that crept into Rhino 8.13 but that was fixed in 8.14
RH-84211 Arctic display: Incorrectly shows colors

You can change your update frequency to have yesterday’s release candidate of 8.14 automatically downloaded and installed.

Oh i didn’t know this. Lately i’ve been installing them manually. How do i configure that option?

Hi Johan -

On Windows, that’s on the Rhino Options -> Updates and Statistics page. On macOS, the setting is on Rhino Options -> General.
