AR Mode Styles - possible bug?

Continuing the discussion from Anchoring modeling and display of materials in rendered AR mode:

Hi Morteza, Hoping you could help with an AR issue I’m experiencing on my iPhone 15 running iOS17.7.

When I toggle on the AR mode and open the dropdown menu for AR style, I am faced with 3 options: Free Point, Selfie, and AR Marker.

Selecting “AR Marker” closes the drop down and changes the label to “Vertical Surface”. There is no way to select Horizontal Surface. (Vertical Surface seems to work very well but I am looking to lock my model to the floor.)

What might be a related issue is that when I select selfie mode, the label on the dropdown menu changes to “Horizontal Surface” but seems to work mostly as selfie mode although it doesn’t lock the model to my face…

Thanks for your time and work - this will be a great tool for visualizing my models!

That is very odd. You should see five options

Can you tell me what version of the App are you using. Does this happen in both portrait and landscape mode?

Thanks for the quick response! This happens in both portrait and landscape orientation (and with an iPhone SE also)

The App version is v8.13.24269 (11.03.0)

Scratching my head. Is your device language English?

I think I know what’s going on.
You device does not have LiDAR, which is required for “Horizontal” and “Vertical” surface modes.

But there’s indeed a bug that causes the button labels to be incorrect when you select a mode.

Logged here and will fix it in the next release: RV-1241 Incorrect AR label when no LiDAR

This is fixed in the latest Appstore release 8.13.24280
