they are also blocks and have display settings saved in the block.

i dont have the by layer option.

Hello- when inside in the block editor, set the display color to By Parent
Then it will take on the layer color of the instance layer.

so i had no success that way. what i did was explode them then join them and that solved the color problem. and now the objects are meshes
