Analyze; Distance in the Z axis stopped working in the Perspective viewport after 3 years. Is there a fix?

When attempting to check the height of an object in the perspective viewport using analyze; distance, I’m able to select a point on the cplane, but not in the z axis above or below the plane. The message above the cursor reads, Projected End.

You need to turn off the “Project” option from the osnap bar - usually located somewhere at the bottom left of the rhino window
