Here are the recommendations for that error from Autodesk.
I followed the recommendations from Autodesk and this thread.
I tried them in the following order:
- Auditing the file
- Disabled Enscape
- Turning off hardware accelerations
- Turning off allowing navigation during redraw
At this point it seems to work.
Hi @joel.van.herwaarden and @Japhy, thank you for your responses. I tried all you mentioned above and for me it doesnât work. I updated all the software and disabled all the options and the views are still crashing.
What I discover instead is: if I open a 3D view (with lots of geometries) before launching RhinoInside, the views donât crash. It seems that Revit does something with the graphics while opening a 3D view.
Next to that, I read in the troubleshooting page that the problem may be in the Revit geometries or families. For me this is not the case because the crashing happens explicitly when activating the shade mode for the Rhino or Grasshopper geometries. Instead, if the view mode for Rhino/Grasshopper geometries is on hidden or wireframe, it works fine.
@joel.van.herwaarden, if you have some time, can you check if you have the same behavior? In the meantime, I will try on other laptops from other colleagues
I tried this and you are right.
If I open the Revit model, go to the 3D view (Shaded), start RIR and select 1 thing via the Graphical Element Component, it works.
If I open the Revit model. start RIR, go to the 3D view (Shaded) and select 1 thing via the Graphical Element Component, it does not work.
Then I change to the Hidden Lines mode and select 1 thing via the Graphical Element Component, it worksâŠ
Next I tried to select multiple things via Graphical Element Component, that does not work.
Just an update and some specs:
I didnât have the error again in the past 16 days. I donât know if I subconsciencely open my 3D before starting RIR, but it seems to work.

I have disabled Enscape
I have disabled âhardware accelerationâ
I have disabled âAllow navigation during redrawâ
So far so good
Same here. To avoid problems I always open a 3D view before launching RIR. It works quite okay most of the time.
FYI, I uninstalled Enscape because I donât need it but both âAllow navigation during redrawâ and âhardware accelerationâ are enabled in my system and it doesnât crash.
