Aggressive Moderation

recently someone has started deleting multiple post of mine that were not offensive and only had a different opinion. having a different opinion is what i say makes a forum where people come to discuss stuff an essential part of the dynamics. otherwise just make an information website where no interactive feedback is possible.

i find it quite ridiculous and childish to act as a dictator, please stop it , its not useful

Have you considered not posting? Then your posts wouldn’t be deleted.

Have you tried talking with that “someone” directly before making a public thread about this?
It make things simpler and with keep it with a “tone” that make everything more solve-able, imo.

…not useful.

talking about it might prevent deleting my post before i post it, so that someone having different opinions does not have to do it for me.

i talked to someone in public and someone else in pm, but when a moderater just deletes your post without even flagging it might not even leave a trace for other moderators though i am not certain but yes i tried to talk to people but currently i can only assume who might do that but i can not point a finger at it for sure.

i have been at this forum for many many years, actually many years before i opened this account till i got fed up with the hateful behaviour and deleted my account. i never really have insulted someone in a personal manner. some posts may have been more direct and i leave it to them to feel insulted by it. still many of my posts got flagged or directly deleted because people are hateful and/or just have different opinions. moderators are also not better humans, they just have more toys to torture someone. i dont want to put every moderator here into the same pot, but there might be one or two who might overstep their boundaries quite a bit.

It’s pity to read about your experience here. I consider this forum to be the most user-friendly among all the forums I have been a member in my life.

Sometimes you don’t notice how you insult someone, and sometimes the moderator doesn’t like it. And sometimes they don’t want to hear your opinion. To some extend they nowadays expect you to give pure technical answers. Never take it personally. If I can give you an advice, just answer to threads which are truly interesting and rather prevent to post. In the majority of cases you don’t help for various reasons (even by providing correct answers). Reason nr.1, most users don’t want a critical answer. Accepting all answers as valuable, already qualifies someone as an excellent professional.

I’ve seen some of ur posts i always see the theme of you not liking the answer and always argue back even if nothing can be done about it and it goes on and on and sometimes evolves into insults.

I understand it can be frustrating and you have some valid points from time to time but you just can’t win all battles.

By the end of the day mcneel makes the rules and thats final it’s the reality we all must accept whether we like it or not.

Just close the forum put on some good tunes and do some rhino modelling to chill out instead thats what id do if you want my advice since i also tend to post provocative things here sometimes.

i can not fully disagree, but i did not try all forums out there either. and i would also claim that just because its not fully bad that it does not become automatically good or perfect so there is always some room to improve, and as mentioned above it is probably just a very isolated and personal instance which still is not necessary by all means.

that is true, but if you sit there thinking about each word you write to be within a good boundary not to sound too sharp edit it about 15 times just before you send it and then still keep editing after you have sent the post already just to be sure that it does not sound more insulting than the actual fact it carries then what more should one do. and should life be really so difficult not to speak out your thoughts as they come?

maybe then the suggestion from @snarkymcsnarkerson might indeed become a fruitful one after all.

indeed, but i do that too much already, i almost need a remedy for that remedy :call_me_hand: so my remedy then becomes the forum again

that is also one of the main issues here, one tends to give in to the chronic poundings of your surroundings that tell you are are not good (enough), but in fact you are just perfect already, at least way more perfect than one might think to believe.

i actually like your refreshing direct way, and it is by all means not insulting and just frank wtih some charme. maybe it takes a day or two to understand it but that is for online talks like this actually quite perfect enough. lets not forget that forums and the inherent emotionally empty words even with the emoticons are and always will be to some extent ambiguous.

It’s an observation by me might as well tell you from my perspective how others might see it, I could be wrong I’ve only been here a bit over a year now so who knows.

I mean I’ve seen some get irritated by my answers so I would not say I’m perfect here

I think it’s refreshing to be direct with the current “climate” of things it leaves room for improvements if one wants rather than sweeping it under the rug

Sounds like you need to touch some grass.

Get offline for an hour, leave your phone and go to the nearest coffeeshop, grab a pen and a nice sketchbook, put your ideas (or comments) by hand on paper. Any LLM can parse handwriting these days, it is very quick to digitise your thoughts again.

It is very easy to get lost in the noise and fracture your attention – I’m noticing it on myself that it is hard to immerse into working in flow lately, which builds up frustration and the temptation is there to let that out on faceless people on the internet.

Walking without music or podcasts is my best ally to battle it. If I have a camera with me, I need to direct my attention to the outside world – I become perceptive very quickly, and forget the small issues that I would eventually realise do not matter.

Watching the last episode of the 4th season of “Dexter” is a good way for everyone to rethink what’s truly important in life…

Looking at the Admin on your posts i’m not seeing any actions taken by moderators as of late. Granted these aren’t things i look at often and may be mistaken, but in general unless its inappropriate we try to let things go.

What style? Like classic?

Modern is pretty easy:

Basic Bathtub.3dm (2.3 MB)

This is what I do and what actually wastes a lot of time. But you can see it as a social training. This is how I do it and it clearly has positive side-effects in my “real” life. At least I claim this to myself… There must a benefit of an active membership, right?!:winking_face_with_tongue:

I was born in a region and in a family which is notorious for direct speech. This can be a good thing if you are in stable situation, but it can be very destructive if you are not. And it really depends on the person you communicate with. Other than that, without any personal information (e.g. body language), words and actions can easily be understood wrong.

But I strongly believe we are not robots.
This is why I would never propose to just answer objectively. Subjective opinions sometimes give a different perspective on a problem and are human. And every person on this planet has its own mental disorder
