Indeed. Very cool. Ingenious use of a multi axis gear, a device that I have never considered.
After looking at this, I thought, gee this reminds me of something, Then it occurred to me: the x-y resolver mechanism of a mechanical mouse or trackball, where the motion of the relevant axis is picked up by a wheel connected to an optical encoder.
It will be interesting to see what this can be used for.

Probably not much since 3-axis rotation has been done in much simpler ways. Sure, itâs interesting, but extremely complex to make.
