3rd dimension of Curvature Graph

One of my colleagues turned me on to curvature graphs a couple of years ago, and truly they’re so great.

The CurvatureGraph command gives us U and V graphs, as shown:

Are we not also intrested in the dimension perpendicular to both of these? When I want to make nice edges, I use Fin with history, and then show the fins’ curvature graphs, like so:


If the above edge curvature is useful, then it would follow that the curvature at the isocurves also matters, although I realize at this point that we’re being awfully uh precise.

Can the fins be produced off isoparms? Do you use a script for this?

Yes the fins could/would be done off of isoparms. I don’t currently have a script, but seems like a great use of grasshopper if I find I need it all the time.

I’m sure I’m not the only one who builds off the edges of existing surfaces, so making those edges nice is especially helpful when creating those neighboring surfaces.

I could see the intermediate isoparms being useful when adjusting messy control points to create as clean of a surface as possible.
