3Dconnexion native support

Hi McNell stuff,
about 3dconnexion devices…

Maxon Cinema4D just removed native support for SpaceMouse devices to allow 3dconnexion to directly support the use of their devices within Cinema 4D with their drivers.
That means that old devices no longer work with the last update…

Are they asking you to do the same?

If so, please don’t!!!

The support for 3Dconnexion devices in Rhino is developed by 3Dconnexion, not McNeel. The 3dxRhino plug-in, which controls 3Dconnexion devices, is distributed with Rhino on their behalf.

While discontinued 3dconnexion devices no longer work with Rhino 7 and Rhino 8 WIP (that change was made since Rhino 6 SR5), it’s still possible to make them work by replacing the newer plug-in with the one from Rhino 6.3  . You also need to try various versions of 3DxWare to figure out which one will work best with your 3d mouse.
For example, my SpacePilot works best with 3DxWare 10.3.0  and the plug-in from Rhino 6.3 which you can download here:
3dxrhino.rhp (444.2 KB)

You have to replace the plug-in that comes with each new installation/upgrade of Rhino with the one uploaded above.

3DxWare 10.4.0 adds an unwanted delay (temporary inability to do anything in Rhino) of 2-3 seconds when switching from another program or window to Rhino 7, while 3DxWare 10.3.0 is instantaneous.
