3D printed nose shade

I made a clip-on nose shade for my sunglasses.

Does it look ridiculous? of course
Does it protect me from sunburn? absolutely

I think it should fit most glasses. It’s held in place with its own tension, The legs are under pressure pushing themselves apart causing the whole thing to slide down putting tension on the bridge.

Here’s the file if you wanna look ridiculous too:
bird_person.3dm (760.3 KB)

The process:

  1. I used iRhino3D to scan my sunglasses.
I had to tape the translucent material with tape to make it work. Scanning clear material isn’t easy

  2. Scanned my face for reference (also with iRhino3D)

  3. Modeled in Rhino (just a sweep2 surface mirrored)

  4. Virtual testfit using AR mode in iRhino3D

  5. @brian 3D printed a couple of iterations on his Bambu printer

  6. Testing in progress

Hi,

You could make a line in silver finish and call it the Tycho Brahe model.

“In the duel Tycho lost the bridge of his nose and gained a broad scar across his forehead. He received the best possible care at the university and wore a prosthetic nose for the rest of his life. It was kept in place with paste or glue and said to be made of silver and gold.[16] In November 2012, Danish and Czech researchers reported that the prosthesis was actually made of brass after chemically analyzing a small bone sample from the nose from the body exhumed in 2010.[17] The prostheses made of gold and silver were mostly worn for special occasions, rather than everyday wear.”

How about a ram-air version to increase oxygen intake for sports cyclists?

And an insulated version for polar explorers?

Hilarious tech demo. This was a great way to inform people about the iRhino 3D app.

I think you need a CFD analysis. maybe you should add some air intakes valves that scoop more oxygen into your nostrils
