2024-11-06 SRC V13 or V14?

I downloaded the latest SRC 2024-11-06
From the splash screen:
Version 8 SR14
(8.14.24311.6001, 2024-11-06)

From @brian post of 2024-11-06 Rhino 8 Service Release Candidate Available - #60 by brian
Rhino 8 SR13 Release Candidate 3 for Windows and Mac (8.13.24311) is now available

Hi David -
From which link did you download that version?
I see that https://www.rhino3d.com/download/rhino/latest/rc/ points to 8.13.24311.03002, and our internal system says:

Release Candidate:

  • Rhino for Windows 8.13 release candidate (8.13.24311.03001) was released a day ago
  • Rhino for Mac 8.13 release candidate (8.13.24311.03002) was released a day ago

“Check for Updates” under Help (Same as Updates and Statistics under Options)
“Check now”
Screen pops up and said a new version is available.
Downloaded and installed the new version.

This is the same proceedure I usually use.

And the update frequency is set to “Service Release Candidate”?
At any rate, looking closer, I see that Brian mistakenly pushed 8.14.24311.06001 and 8.14.24311.06002 as release candidates on Wednesday but corrected that half an hour later. I’m not sure if that first release process was completed, but, if it did, I suppose that could explain why you got a 8.14 version…

Yes. Update frequency set to “Service Release Candidate”.

How do I get 8.13.24311.03001?

I downloaded 8.13.24311.03001 but could not install it. Is there a way to install it without removing Rhino and starting completely over? What is mean by “Modify the installed features of Rhino in Control Panel”?

Hi David -

While we prefer to bisect the cause of regression on macOS because you can have any number of versions running next to each other, sometimes we need to bisect on Windows for issues that are Windows-only. In my experience of doing this, simply uninstalling Rhino and installing a different version has never caused the loss of settings.

Apart from that, what’s wrong with the 8.14 version you installed?
-wim

I’ll keep the 8.14 version unless problems arise.

You were fast! We accidentally released an 8.14 build and it was out for about 30 minutes before we deleted all the traces of it. We’ll be releasing 8.14 RC for real next Tuesday.
