Rhino 7, Cycles
When I finish my next design project, I will create another challenge and collect similarly beautiful renders. ![]()
I am so enjoying this thread… it was not very long ago that Rhino was barely a toy for rendering. Even in V6 which was a huge improvement, you could only get some much. The work the @andy @nathanletwory and all our rendering devs have done to allow these great images is really fun to see come to light.
Much more work to go, many more features to add, we appreciate you all, the work you do, and the feedback you give us so we can keep pushing Rhino to be the best it can be. Thanks @Paul_96 for kicking this off-
that backdrop is awesome- image or real displacement?
Normal map.
nice- looks amazing
Didn’t expect it to get this big, but I really enjoy it too!
Seems like we hit a good nerve ![]()
I guess it should work the same way as other folding knives…

Was thinking the same thing, but the hole isn’t round and the blade’s too long, so I reckon the front pin is the intended pivot; in which case the blade will “cut through” the hole, making it a little dangerous. I had a Hultafors folder at some point with a design similar to the Gerber shown - sort of a karambit knife for your index finger.
The knife nerd in me just wondered what the design intent was

Ah, cool @Paul_96! I’ll stop nagging you
I hope you didn’t take the question as critisism - was just curious!

Nah, all cool ;D Thanks for the reminder
I felt that there was missing alot in the technical drawing anyway… and I didn´t see the finger cutter since I didnt rotated it into the position ![]()
Thanks @Paul_96 for posting! Here’s one trying out some procedurals with anisotropic and gradient shaders
I am too noob with rendering…
But … someone cold try with some antiqued wood + rusted metal combo…
