Y-pipe shape in gh, with continuity restrictions

Hi! I saw this y-shaped pipe in this Rhino page Rhino - Display (It’s in the Color Balanced’ section). I’m wondering:
This pipe doesn’t have a seam or a break in continuity in the middle. How is this possible? There’s no way I believe to make such a shape with four-sided patches while keeping with four-edges-per-internal-vertex rule, so there is going to be a break/seam in the resulting surface where the three legs of the pipe meet. I don’t see such a break/seam here–it seems the y-pipe section is one continuous surface
Could someone please share some hints to getting this effect?
Thanks very much!

The seams are still there, but probably just hidden. And still smooth transitions though.

Probably subD related tools were used.
