Work session Layer States are like GTA 6, never coming out

Guys, I can’t imagine this feature being that hard. If I can x-ref a document into a Rhion File, why can’t I use it properly in the detail function layout. Seriously what is Work Session even for. I’m not even commenting on the fact that when you copy blocks over it comes in without the correct function. I would really like someone to reach out to me on this, I think I can provide some insight.

Hello Nathan, Thanks for the links, I’m pretty well versed in Rhino. If you link the model to one work Session you can have multiple people drafting multiple drawings in a building, such a xrefing the base drawing then starting to do RCP’s Foundation Plans, Life Safety Plans, etc. So I know what I am asking for & it would be a great bonus. In addition its a little buggy when you xref a file and want to copy blocks over, it doesn’t inherit the object properties, it makes a new one in the file you are copying to. Either way, it’s a crucially missing function in my humble opinion, & it doesn’t seem that complicated

Hi Sam -

I’m afraid I have no idea at all what that collection of words actually means.

Which portion, all of it? I can share a file structure to help you see what I mean.

Hi Sam -

Yes, please.

So, the idea is like an xref, so you can reference a file underlay and annotate it in layout. The idea is that drawings can be polished and added as annotations and sets are being created, but its all for naught if you can’t hide objects and layers if the program resets it every time you open and close the file. Furthermore, i have a master block file I can’t copy the blocks over via a work session, because it doesn’t bring it as a block or as the object in the referenced file, it brings it in as an exploded object on the current layer. Completly a pointless function.
