Coming back to this discussion, I like the Mouse over highlight for selections, however, I often find myself disabling the option when objects are (partially) overlapping. The reason being I cannot seem to reliably select the object I need and I need to fiddle around with the mouse a lot to get to the top or bottom object.
Would it be possible to add a shortcut for overlapping objects to e.g. Tab through the options? Or could the Selection Menu be used when neither of the objects under the cursor is closer?
I do find it is possible to trigger the Selection Menu by Escaping out of the selection and then rapidly click again with LMB. But that seems rather hacky.
