_insertPoint is quite powerful when it comes to rebuild SubD s typlology.
but somehow it is annoying to recall it for the same subD several times, when the new Edges not form a loop.
a simple example.
my brain somehow needs to see those trapezia very quick - so i call _insertpoint 3 Times
… though it s possible to call it only twice if you have a face-loop-focused brain ;-D
You could Inset and then delete the two lower polygons. But, indeed, Rhino could adopt many of Maya’s tools to insert/cut/splice/modify edges and edge loops.
Well, Rhino just needs some of Maya’s, 3ds’ or Blender’s basic but essential editing tools, very likely not patented I would think, having been around for well over a decade.
