I’m using the new dimension component to dimension my street network or rooms in buildings and I also frequently use Text Dots to display information that I have to read from my script. However, as the file gets heavier, the custom preview component starts to bog down on the dimensions and larger sets of data, unlike the annotation components. Would it be possible to expose a preview color setting for the annotation components directly? It might be quicker/ easier to use/reuse @AndyPayne?
This may not be ideal, but you could try to assign the color using the Object Display/Model Object components and then bake the annotations to your document. If you set the Content Cache to “push” automatically, then it should update pretty quickly (perhaps quicker than the Custom Preview component).
We do eventually want to add a new Preview component which would work with Model Objects. Essentially this type of preview component would display an object using all of its effective attributes (ie. display color, linetype, etc.) This is on our road map but I don’t have a timeline as to when that would be available.
