How can one correctly preview Grasshopper’s “model objects” in the Rhino viewport? I would like to discuss your opinions and experiences. I am aware that all the “Rhino” components in Grasshopper are quite new and that McNeel is still working on them. I appreciate all these new powerful features; the possibilities are endless.
Proper preview of geometry is crucial for any development in Grasshopper. This is why I have experimented with different approaches. I might be doing something wrong or missing an important point, but it is not obvious to me how to preview “model objects” - especially annotations.
Therefore, I am wondering: is it possible to have a new “Custom Preview” component that allows users to preview not just geometry, but also lines with line types/line weights and annotations? It could include a “Print Display” toggle.
For annotations I find it works best to assign the right annotation style with the override annotation style component. Once that is done, a regular preview component can be used.
Thanks for sharing your approach. Something like this? It works with the Display settings connected, but obviously won’t work with Drafting settings… Also I have noticed slight difference in colour.
I think this grey color is used to display what’s in the cache component. Try disabling the preview on the cache component. I believe preview off also has a positive effect on performance…
The grey color comes from the Layer color that annotations get baked to if no Layer is assigned to them when you use the Content Cache component. You can simply go into the Layer panel and change the Layer display color if you want it to be something else. Or assign a custom layer to the annotation model objects and it will use that layer when baked.
