Hi All,
Eventually I have started doing drawings in V9 and one thing I found out is a lack of Tangent linetype differentiation.
With ClippingDrawing in place we already have a separate layer for Tangent lines. But when I make the option “From input object” the tangent lines’ linetype is the same as the linetype of the source object.
If we would have a property in Rhino, which will set the tangent linetype (and lineweight) of an object, as additional fields in object’s properties (and in layer panel for setting up the layer’s tangent linetypes and lineweights and colors), this will give much more flexibility to a user to represent their geometries both in 3d space and in a drawing.
The default setting could be “As the main linetype/color/weight” and such columns could be hidden by default in the layer panel.
This will make changes to the tangent lines on a drawing much quicker. Currently I have to edit every ClippingDrawing’s block to set all tangent lines to be By layer and then I would be able to just modify the layer’s linetype/color/weight.
Also, imaging seeing the 3d model with different linetypes for sharp and tangent edges. You may play with thickness and color, which could add more readability to the CAD.
The last, but not least - I would love to see the option in settings to set up an angle threshold to consider the edge as Tangent. This will give more clean view for both 3D and Drawings.
Makes sense?
