WIP : Locked Layers and Hide/Unhide

Sorry for slightly vague report. But I am definitely seeing something strange happening with the use of hide/unhide and locked layers.. I have just had a whole load of stuff ‘disappear’ only retrievable by reverting to a .bak file.. The only definite I can pinpoint is that the behaviour with regards hiding and unhiding is NOW (as of Rhino9) affected by whether a layer is locked or not. The ‘hidden’ property seems to be ‘locked’ with the a locked layer.. which an be confusing (you have to unlock a layer and then re-run _unhide to see elements which were hidden while the layer was in the locked state)

More worryingly I am fairly sure that some ‘hidden’ elements are being removed altogether in certain instances (although am prepared to concede that may be user error, and can’t seem to isolate when this happens)

That behavior is not new in V9 WIP. V8 behaves the same. Show does not affect objects hidden using Hide on locked layers which were subsequently locked..

There’s definitely something weird going on.. I am now seeing elements which are visible in layout page not visible in the main windows… ‘hidden’ from view but visible in the Layout.

I am not seeing the same behaviour in Version 8 (which I’ve been using since release)

edit : although if I export as a Rhino 8 file and open in Rhino 8 the issue persists

Hi Bill -

It sounds like you are using the lightbulb in the “Model On” column and you have previously only used the one in the “On” column.
… pending a 3dm file, this is only speculation…

Yes Wim !! You are 100% correct. I have no idea how you worked out that’s what I was doing (incorrectly) but thank you. Really helpful
