We need to talk about Offset

Actually, now that I’ve been reminded, I just watched @theoutside’s excellent demo of a very, very robust mesh offset in the Rhino 8 WIP.

It’s not a perfect offset, but it’s very close. And I for one, would like to know if it’s possible to apply exactly the same concept to curve offset.

Give us a command and a grasshopper component to use when we want robustness instead of perfect accuracy for curve offsets. Seems like if it’s possible to do this for absolutely polysurface that’s been that’s been finely meshed, that by extension it must be possible to do it for any curve, right? At least any curve that doesn’t self intersect? right?

Testing your definition with my fixes described in the linked post above seems to yield results as good as Clippers

Did this make its way into a Grasshopper addon yet?

I don’t think so. But I don’t think there will be huge differences between clipper 1 and clipper 2. Clipper seems a bit more simple to use.
