Alias has a mega important tool called “Planarize hull” which basically does its magic by fitting the surface control points mostly across the UV directions (and probably some subtle changes in the N direction, too). This is a huge time saver for any kind of modeling:
@pascal once posted some script to planarize surfaces points but it was still somewhat in a WIP state and I would love to see it being fully finished and doing a similar job like what’s shown here in the videos.
