Volume properties of non-Closed

Hi Everyone,

I’m in need of some help. I have a mode that which I’m trying to get the volume of but I’m getting the error message -

Volume properties of non-Closed
Some of the selected objects are not closed. This calculation is only meaningful if the selected objects fully enclose a volume.

I’ve had a look around the model and have had no luck finding the issue. If anyone can could kindly assist with this that would be GREATLY appreciated!

Thank you in advance.

Try this:

How did you create the inside surfaces?

Turn on ShowEdges…

You have 6 naked edges…

There’s a little extra surface in there that shouldn’t be:

When you remove that there some slivers that remain from what looks like an out of tolerance trim, you need to fix those.

I fixed and closed the model, unfortunately, the Volume command still failed after that. Usually this means that the area of one or more surfaces that compose the object cannot be calculated for some reason. (The individual areas are necessary to calculate volume). I isolated it to this one (in red):

The surface passes check, but something is still wrong. I untrimmed it and retrimmed it with the same border. Then the area calculation worked. Joining all back up, Volume now works.

Thank you so much for your help with this! Really is greatly appreciated. I’m still learning so this is great for me to understand what went wrong and how it got solved.

Many thanks
