I’ve been having this problem for a while and yesterday I finally found a way to replicate it. If I right-click on any of the tabs (model space or paper space), go over the menu and hit ESC, tabs freeze and I can’t switch between them, either by clicking on them or by using CTRL+TAB. Most of the time it happens at the first try, sometimes at second or third. I use this a lot because I work with files with up to 80 layout tabs.
Hello - does this happen if you do not have a lot of tabs?

Hello -hmmm - that looks fine, I think - can you open Rhino and run the New command and open a new
file with ‘No template’ . Does the problem occur in that file?

I just tried on 6 and 7 (WIP) and yes, still happens. Tabs freeze, still can’t click on them, but I was able to use CTRL+TAB to switch between views
Hello - does Rhino otherwise behave as expected? Can you please start Rhino in Safe Mode and see if the same thing happens?
Start Rhino in Safe Mode: Windows start menu, type in ‘Rhinoceros’ and look for the ‘Rhinoceros in Safe Mode’ entry.

Yes, same thing happens in Safe Mode. Tabs froze and I couldn’t use CTRL+TAB either. And actually one time when I opened a new file using No Template in Safe Mode, tabs were already frozen.
Everything else seems to work fine.
@pascal unfortunately this thing is happening again, now in V7 (7.6.21127.19001, 2021-05-07). This is the first time I started doing drawings since we updated to V7 and the tabs are still freezing. I can use the ctrl+tab to switch between paper space tabs, but I can’t get to model space ones. I have to save and restart Rhino every time it happens
Hm… can you please post the SystemInfo from V7 as well?

Hi Juan - can you send one of your 80 layout files to tech@mcneel.com, with a link back here in your comments - it’s probably fine if the file does not have much in it (if the real file is massive) , but if possible make it from a copy of a file that shows the problem.

Hi Juan - I was able to repeat this in your file, thanks - it happens, here, so far, only if the tabs are scrolled so that the model tabs are not in view - is that the case for you?

For now, I would recommend switching to a single layout tab and using the new layout panel in Rhino 7. This panel was designed to make working with many layouts easier than a massive set of tabs.
Yes. It happened to me while scrolling, clicking on and mostly if I right click + use menu on one of them.
Also I’ve noticed that if you move or copy a tab to a different place, using ctrl+tab to switch between them doesn’t follow the new order. For example if I have tabs
1 2 3 4 5
and I create a copy of 5 and move it as 2.A so I have something like
1 2 2.A 3 4 5
you have to save and restart Rhino and only then using ctrl+tab will follow the right order
Thanks @stevebaer ! I just started using this on the most recent files. The thing is that 99% of the files we’re working on were created in V6 and have lots of tabs. As we move forward on the design phases, we’ll try to update most of them
You should just be able to turn tabs off in V7. It is just a visual setting and should not affect your 3dm files. If you open your V6 file with lots of tabs in V7 using a combined layout tab as shown in the image I posted, you can use the layout panel.
@pascal @stevebaer now this is happening. I’m working with combined layout tabs but when I reopen the file, layout panel looks empty, even though I have 19 layouts.
Edit: I need to click on the “New Layout” button and hit OK and then all of them show up
