View point cloud in clipping drawing

Clipping Drawing is a good tool for parametric cuts in the direction of BIM CAD programs for architecture etc. but is there also a way to derive/display point clouds with these.? In the 3D and other views they are cut perfectly but unfortunately not shown in the derivation.

If it’s not possible, then unfortunately I have to generate the derivation of the point cloud manually using PointCloudSection or something like that.

Sorry, English is not my native language but I hope you understand what I mean.

Not quite following the workflow, but sounds like a job for Cockroach…

In my example, I have to plan an escape route in an existing tunnel and beyond and I modeled the new building “draft status” and created several parametric sections with the ClippingDrawings command and now I wanted to display the point cloud in these if possible without manually guiding the surrounding area in the section.

Rhino geometries are displayed, but unfortunately point clouds are not taken into account in the section derivations.

If it is currently not possible to include them automatically, then I would have to/would just create them with the PointCloudSection command, but I wanted to ask if there is a way to include them automatically, then you wouldn’t have to readjust them when the cutting position changes.

I’m very happy that parametric cuts are now possible with Rhino 8 without having to use plugins.

Thanks, I understand now. Ideally this would happen via section tools, i’ll create a feature request.

Note that creating a point cloud section works better when you can flatten a band of the point cloud instead of a single plane. If i recall correctly cockroach clouds grasshopper components do this.

Thank you for your reply. Until it’s possible directly in Rhino, I’ll take a look at Cockroach or the native options in Grasshopper to implement it.
