Couldn’t find the solution/setting so need to post this newb question.
Basically, I’ll change my CPlane (but not the view), but the view changes anyways. And it seems intermittent.

In what way does you view change? Can you post some screenshots, as I have a hard time imagining what is happening at your end.
Hi Gijs and thanks for your fast response. I played around a bit and figured out what’s going on. It’s likely working how it’s supposed to I was just using really sloppy workflow. I did notice some odd behavior (nothing really substantial but shared in the last paragraph as an FYI). Other stuff is/just me maybe not using the views as they were intended.
Here’s what I was doing: I usually start off working in perspective mode (where everything works as expected). I would go into the top view at some point, but then rotate away from the top view instead of switching back into the perspective view. If you’re in Top/Front/Back/Left… etc… , changing the CPlane will change the view. But if you’re in perspective it won’t. And this behavior makes sense; you probably want your CPlane to follow your view when you’re working in the top/front/back/etc… views.
So… as long as I remember to go back into perspective view, my CPlane won’t take the view along with it.
So here’s the weird behavior I found (not much of a real issue just sharing as an FYI):
Starting in Perspective view and the CPlane set to “top”, I switch to Front view. Then I switch back to perspective view (the CPlane is still in the front view). When I try to change the CPlane back to “top” it doesn’t go the first time (it seems to be flipping an axis), it takes a second click.
Hello- this should not be the case - how are you changing the CPlane, exactly?
-Pascal
I uploaded a video that tracks all the behavior:
I’m using the stock buttons and the command line doesn’t output anything telling.
I’m pretty okay with how it works to be honest, I just had to figure it out I guess.
Ah, OK - so what you mean is, changing the view changes the CPlane, not the other way round - that is indeed by dedsign, the exception being SetView
> Perspective which does not change the CPlane. Setting a CPlane (CPlane
command) does not alter the current view.
To change the view and not the CPlane,
SetView CPlane Top
(etc)
