Using the Gumball like the pivot in Max

In 3DS Max I can select an object then type coordinates in the move transform box and the object will move with the pivot centered on those coordinates. Is there a way to do a similar thing in Rhino? I have often needed to center an object at the origin and can’t seem to find an easy way to do this.

Thanks,
Dennis

Hi Dennis - If you drag an object gumball by its origin, type in 0 and Enter while dragging and it will go to the CPlane origin.

(RelocateGumball will let you position the gumball anyplace but without moving the object.)

Any of that help?
What you cannot do is use the Gumball origin as a snap ‘from’ point in Move, which is maybe what you really want, right?

If I understand you correctly you can grab your object, then click and drag the gumball at the “point” where the arrows meet up. While you are still dragging you can type an absolute coordinate and it will move the object to that location.

Ah, exactly what I was looking for. I didn’t realize dragging the Gumball from the origin was significant. Thanks so much!
