Usertext panel not rendering

Hi,

Lately I ran into the issue of the UserText panel not rendering.
If I have an object selected and go to the properties tab with UserText item focused.
The panel is not rendered:

When moving my mouse over the screen items pop-up:

After switching to ObjectProperties item and back to UserText item it does render fully.

Hi Willem,

The developers have an idea of what might be causing this but we could use a 3dm file and the exact steps you take before seeing it if possible. Can you provide a file that consistently reproduces the issue? Thanks.

Hi Brian,

In a quick test I cannot seem to reproduce this.
I’ll be working with more complex files tomorrow and keep an eye out if it happens again.

Thanks Willem. if you recall updating Windows recently prior to not seeing this issue again please let me know the build you’re on. e.g. 1803. I haven’t been able to reproduce this but have heard of it from a few other users. It seems connected to Windows updates in conjunction with the GPU driver.

This has been logged as RH-48508 and is being worked on. It looks like there was some code that can potentially fix this that was commented out. I’m in the process of making sure the code is safe to use.

RH-48508 is fixed in the latest Service Release Candidate

Hi,

We still see this behaviour:
When selecting an object the usertext panel is not rendering only after some back and forth activating other items and the usertext does it render properly.

-Willem

Hoi Willem,
We were never able to reproduce this on any of the machines that we use but, as you see, RH-48508 was reopened when we got information that the issue wasn’t fixed.

We need more information from you to find out what goes wrong, specifically:

Hi,

.NET 472 is already installed
I do not recall any recent updates.

I did some more testing in a file with a bunch of objects with UTXTS .
The UTXT panel is open and keep click-selecting objects.

My observations:
If I have rendered panel and keep selecting different objects it seems always to render correct.
Only if I have nothing selected and select an object the panel sometimes fails to render.
However I do get a quick flash of the rendered panel before it blanks out, I don’t know if that is a cached version or not because all my objects have an equal amount of utext and it’s too quick to read.

What else would you need from me?
Do you want to connect remotely and run some tests maybe?

@JohnM is going to have to help here. He has this issue on his bug list and I believe he is still trying to figure out how to reproduce the bug.
