Use Livelink on another windows account

We have a use case where there are 2 users on the same pc. The first (user A) has installed Rhino 8 and the second (user B) has installed Tekla 2024 and the latest livelink but it won’t work.
The livelink installer exits with the error pointing to the windows user folder of user A. So the .gha and .ghlink files are placed manualy in the folders pointed out in the help file but that still won’t work.
After logging in as user A the livelink installer works and the livelink can be used.
Is there a solution where user B can use the livelink?

Hi Reint, not a scenario I have tested. What does the error message say when using the installer? What happens when user B launches Grasshopper after manually placing the files - does the live link show up? If not, is the .gha unblocked? Any error messages in the Rhino command window?

Cheers,

I did not get a reply from the user yet.
Here is the error message.

I have to get confirmation on your other questions in this case but I have seen this before and my memory tells me the live link didn’t show up in grasshopper and .gha was unblocked.

The Setup.exe will try to put the .gha into the Tekla bin folder and the .ghlink file into the Grasshopper libraries folder.

It will find the Tekla bin folder based on the value
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Trimble\Tekla Structures\2024.0\setup\MainDir
in the windows registery.

And it will assume the Grasshopper Libraries folder is located in the folder
%APPDATA%\Grasshopper\Libraries,
where %APPDATA% points to the current users AppData folder.

In your case the Grasshopper Libraries folder is presumably in user A:s AppData folder, therefore everything works as expected for that user. Whereas user B doesn’t have a Libraries folder in their own AppData folder, therefore the setup fails. But assuming user B can use user A:s Rhino and Grasshopper install I don’t quite understand why the live link wouldn’t load or work after user A has successfully installed it  Are other GH plugins visible for user B? Maybe I’m missing something.
