I am seeking advice on how to best model this shape in Rhino 7. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
I design furniture and normal cushions, etc. are not a problem. I am exploring subD as well more and would like advice from the forum members. Thanks. SW

Yes, I saw that and have inquired from the developer.
Surpik3D does also work well with subD objects as input surfaces.
The split upholdstery panels will be converted to nurbs (poly-)surfaces though.
