Updated my workstation

So, have just got a new to me workstation up and running:

Lenovo P520 tower
Hex core Xeon processor at 3.7ghz and 4.5ghz turbo
64gb of ram in quad channel
4gb Quadro P1000 gpu
Triple 24" monitors
512gb m.2 for OS and apps
2x 2TB HDD in RAID1 mirror (plus Dropbox back up) for data storage and security

Very stoked to get some more screen real estate over my aging Lenovo P50 15" laptop and single 24" monitor.

50% more cores, 50% higher clock speed and double the ram should all help the workflow.

Some of my code is now COOKING the processor in the laptop, and I’ve gone thru a couple of chargers recently. Was for sure time to get onto a machine with proper heat management.

Cheers

OMW! I know the P1000 is a very modest GPU compared to the modern power house RTX cards BUT…

I’ve never seen Raytrace renders get to a quality result so fast - it use to be minutes if not tens of minutes to have anything looking remotely nice on the 1GB M1000M on my laptop - now its just a few seconds.

I can’t imagine what a RTX4090 class card must be like…

Rad setup, @kiteboardshaper! I make surfboards in my shop using a mixture of Peel 3D scanning, Rhino, and Shape3D. Cool to see ya using Grasshopper for your geometry!!
